Our Story
Rencarie is a family-owned mom and pop shop in Murphys, California — a gold-rush town in the Sierra foothills with one main street and a great deal of ambience.
We started Rencarie in 2021 out of our home's basement. What began as a gift basket and candle company went through many iterations before becoming the brand it is today. Every vessel and every candle is meticulously hand crafted using products from the USA and shipped from our local post office.
The work started with a dissatisfaction. Candles are usually sold in vessels that are worth throwing away. Glass that cracks, tin that rusts, ceramic poured ten thousand at a time. It seemed backwards to spend months on a fragrance and minutes on the vessel holding it.
Cement was the answer, though not immediately. It took a long stretch of failed pours to learn that the material rewards restraint — that the marbling everyone responds to happens when you allow artistry to outpace production.
Every vessel is mixed, coloured, poured, cured, sanded, sealed, filled and packed in the same building. Preset colour and scent pairings are kept in stock and ship in two to three business days. Everything else is made when you order it, and can take up to three weeks — cement sets on its own schedule.
